Can I still call them piglets once they top 50 pounds?
The piglets have just been weaned- which means we're ready to start marketing them! We have 23 feeders. We'll continue to direct market a portion and will now start wholesale marketing the others to local restaurants and co-ops.
Curious piglet. This is one of the few with any black spots. His are barely visible here on his back. They all seem to really reflect their father's coloring. Some, though, retain more of the Berkshire portliness while others are a bit longer as the Yorkshire breed comes through. All have adorable floppy ears that like a good scratching.
We continue to purchase transitional organic feed for these pigs. However, we plan to finish these pigs on grain we raise and grind here in Western Minnesota this summer.
I'm such a sucker for a good piglet selfie. I have to come up with a better way of photographing myself...
